HI, I think a swag can work in a normal fenced camp site. In the wild I think if you put in on a stretcher and next to a vehicle you should be quite good and not on the open should a herd of animals come running though your camp site . Nice video and nice places you have been to.

Howzit Ryan I have a fridge freezer like yours , if there is not sufficient power to run it the compressor will not operate , it’s quite normal and the unit should be ok once you rectified your battery set up . By now you would know what the cause was ? One way to find out if the compressor is faulty is plug the Dometic into mains power 220volts .

Hey Ryan .. good to see you boys out and about again .. the Swag … ok I live in Australia where they are quite common and popular , I have borrowed my nephew’s one a few times.. the only benefit is they are quick to erect . The down side is they are very bulky and heavy for their size , then if you want it off the ground then you have to get an off ground stretcher frame purpose made for a swag .. and that comes with another heavy bulky add on . They are nice in winter as they are warm . But in rain I have serious doubts if they are going to keep you dry . Personally I would find a very well made practical two or one man canvas tent . The new canvas made now is a lot lighter than the older tents from years ago . The swag can open up if you get hot at night , they are enclosed with mozzie fly screen net .. but wildlife like lion etc would take advantage of that and it would be not safe being so low down and exposed . Swags are not for everyone and certainly not in Africa in the wild bush with predators around ! Stay well !

Spent 6 months living in a swag in Western Australia whilst drilling for gold. Was pretty good except when the creepy crawlies visited, usually two nights before going on a break. Had close encounters with Kangaroos checking me out in the middle of the night and breaking the ice off the swag in winter was always a bit challenging.

Being a saffa living in Aus, swag in Africa for me is a no go, they heavy, hot, no space for your personals, I would rather look at a OZTENT RV series ! 30 second tent

Hi Ryan . I love the episodes. Reese can get a swag from Ironman 4x4 . It's very sturdy and awesome quality... but i agree with you i wouldn't feel safe. But i also believe predators see a ground tent and a swag as a "bush" or a big rock. I don't think they have picked up that there would be a human snack inside a tent. They just don't hunt like that . But an elephant might step on you by accident. So if i would use a swag, i would pitch it next to a vehicle.

That was great. That's an area we would love to see. We have been told many times that Khwai has some of the best wildlife sightings in Africa. Seems accurate. I don't know about sleeping in a ground tent with 6 big male lions around....Rhys. As always, proud to be a Patreon.

Two pie thieves smashing those vetkoeks was almost as hilarious for me as imagining Rhys trapped in the tent in his Y fronts, giant panga in hand sh*tting himself at 4am hoping the lions dont eat him. Awesome video lads

Great one guys. I'd say no to the swag - I recall chatting to an experienced guide who said he'd never sleep in a small tent in unfenced campsites.

That sand is a monster Flippen thick. Sit along the fire at night man die lewe is lekke. The lions in the night 100 meters from camp site next level, Rhys i will also sh-t in my pants when sleeping in ground tent with lions nearby. Ryan the camera work is next level. Sightings brilliant. The lion is the king in the jungle period nice close-up shots of the Lions, Ryan. This is overlanding at its best flippen epic episode Ryan hopefully one day i will meet you cheers.

This conversation will be helpful for me too as i have been looking into buying a swag from Ironman but i have been skeptical, haven't seen one in person here in Bots! But i feel is the same as canvas ground tent but very small as if is a sleep bag 😂😂

Fantastic video. Dont know how 8 missed it when it was released. Insane to see so many elephant kills. I actually filmed the elephant calf kill by Serondela in Chobe early in the morning. Very sad and hard to watch.

Fag the swag, I built a bush camp in Manyeleti and slept in the open for 6 months, no fire arms either. People over think wildlife security 😊
